In 2020, I Will Be…

In 2020, I Will Be…

As we come to the end of 2011 (yes, it’s one of those posts) and start thinking about all our New Year’s Resolutions and how  much weight we’re going to try and lose, I’ve been thinking a little further ahead. I’m of the age where I’m making a lot of choices that will affect my life in the future and I’m also trying to get a foot on the ladder, not only for writing but also for dance.

I decided to write a post about where I want to be  in 2020, because I think that’s considerably more interesting.

On the first day of 2020, I will be almost 24 years of age.

In 2020, I would like to be a published author. By this, I mean an author whose books have been published, whose books have been bought by people – an author who is supporting herself through money made from writing. Preferably, I would like to be a writer that people have heard of, and whose books are in the public libraries (if there are any libraries left by then).

In 2020, I would like there to be libraries. If there are no libraries, I will run my own library, from my house, for all of my friends and neighbours to borrow books. And when they damage them or return them late, I will fine them in cookies and scones and make them beta read my next book.

In 2020, I would like to have moved out from my parents’ house and be living independently, with space to practice dance, space to write, and a large collection of books.

In 2020, I would like to have finished dance training and qualified as a ballet teacher, and I would like to either be teaching in another school or have my own school. If this is not practical, for reasons such as my health, I would like to be involved in the dance world in some way. If it is practical, and possible, I would like to have performed at least once on stage with a professional dance company.

In 2020, I would like to still be in touch with friends I have now, and not forget them.

In 2020, I would like to play the fiddle in sessions with other people who like traditional music, and I would like to have made a CD of a professional standard.

In 2020, I would like to have visited Ireland, Russia and Norway, places I have a longing to go to. I would also like to have plans to go to New Zealand, although I may not have visited it by then due to financial concerns.

In 2020, I would like to own a computer that works 99% of the time. I would like to be capable of remembering to make vlogs instead of deleting them by accident after twenty minutes work on filming. I would like to be organised enough to write blog posts on time, meet deadlines with work, and not give people excuse for why I haven’t reviewed their novel yet.

In 2020, I would like to be a better person than I am today.

But in 2012, I would like to start on that road. I’ve got a long way to go.

  1. I think your library fine could bac fire on you… Ops I returned it late, so what’s the next book of your’s I’m beta reading? :}

Otherwise I applaud your forward thinking.

Oh and one way to meet blog deadlines, is to blog one a week or month.. speaking of which I ought to do a blog post today… Yikes.

    1. I try and do three per week, four sometimes, but often it sinks down to two. I don’t often do only one :)
And did I send you Watching? I don’t think I did. I have one chapter more of this version to write, then you can have it, if you want. Pop it on your Kindle and read it on there :)

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
